Streamline In-Vehicle Communications Development and Testing

Keysight in-vehicle communications products offer test coverage for a wide variety of technologies and data rates for the growing high-performance design and test requirements of modern in-vehicle networking systems. Automotive Ethernet provides a universal medium for high-speed communication that allows different components to coexist on the same switched network.  While several emerging automotive SerDes connections convert parallel data to serial data (and vice-versa), enabling communication for high resolution displays like cameras and infotainment. It is a point-to-point architecture with high bandwidth, low baud rates, and high orders of modulation employed. Our solutions help the development, validation, and debugging of CPUs, ECUs, cables, interconnects, and edge devices up to the latest standards.  Request a quote for one of our popular configurations today. Multiple technologies

There are several different technologies that operate in the vehicle network. Conformance and interoperability for each of those is critical to the safety and security of modern vehicle architectures.

OSI layers 1–7 testing

Keysight delivers end-to-end Automotive Ethernet validation across OSI Layers 1–7. Testing begins at the physical layer and extends upward to include control-plane validation, timing accuracy, guaranteed delivery, and AVB/TSN performance.

Multi-gigabit data validation

Keysight automotive Ethernet and SerDes solutions validate multi-gigabit communication as modern ADAS and autonomous features demand the fastest data rates.

Tx, Rx, and Lx testing

Automate testing and validation across transmitter (Tx), receiver (Rx), and channel testing from 10 Mbps to 50 Gbps, providing increased test accuracy while saving time for rigorous compliance testing.

Measurement type Channel (Lx), Receive (Rx), Transmit (Tx)
Technology Automotive Ethernet, MIPI A-PHY, ASA, GSML, Generic
10 Mb/s – 10 Gb/s, 100 Mb/s – 1000 Mb/s, 2 Gb/s – 32 Gb/s

MIPI A-PHY, ASA, and GMSL2 Transmit Compliance Test

High-performance cameras are key to enabling modern advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicle (AV) applications. Developers are turning to serializer/deserializer (SerDes) connections to connect those cameras to the vehicle’s image-processing electronic control units (ECUs). Link or channel testing is essential to maintain signal integrity between the transmitter and receiver. A link segment comprises cables and inline connectors, along with mating connectors at either end. Channel characterization for SerDes links requires looking at the cabling system, the MDI, and the fixturing in both the time and frequency domains.

The AE2000L automotive SerDes cable and channel validation test solution will ensure cables, adapters, connectors, and/or harnesses using MIPI A-PHY are valid without impedance mismatches, signal distortion, or defects between cables. The AE2000T automotive SerDes Tx compliance test solution covers 3 standards and 5 gears/speed grades in one solution:
MIPI A-PHY ASA
GMSL2 Key Capabilities
Automatically detects the number of available ports.. Creates a test plan for those lanes selected with all the required tests, insertion loss, return loss and/or cross talk between cables.
Automatically sets up the network analyzer for each measurement and applies the limit lines. Provides detailed measurement results including sweep type, start and stop times as well as pass/fail results information of each test that has been run.
Creates an HTML or PDF for the MIPI A-PHY, ASA, and GMSL interface tests report of the tests that have been run. Ordering information
The software requires Keysight PathWave Test Automation software. The same version of AE2000L runs on a Keysight Vector Analyzer (VNA) with a time domain reflectometry (TDR) option; choose between E5080B benchtop, M980XA PXI, or P500xA USB.
Software licenses are available as node-locked, transportable, USB portable, or floating and can be purchased with 6-, 12-, 24-, 36-, or 60- months of support. Configuration guidelines are available in the data sheet.
